Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Eye Know O.D. Ltd., a Colorado limited liability company (“we,” “us,” or “our”), which operates EyeKnow O.D. at eyeknowod.com (the “Site”), handles information about you. By using the Site you agree to this Policy.

Information we collect

• Account information you provide. If you create an account, we collect your name and email address, and a securely hashed version of your password. You are not required to create an account to use the free practice exam or reference content.
• Activity you generate. If you are signed in, we store your quiz sessions and progress so you can resume and see your results, and the days you answered the Question of the Day so we can show your streak. Whether or not you are signed in, we record which answer was chosen on each practice question and daily question, with no name, email or IP address attached, to find and fix weak questions and to count daily use.
• Purchase information. If you buy Pro, Stripe, our payment processor, handles the payment. At checkout Stripe receives your email address, your name if your account has one, and your EyeKnow O.D. account ID from us, and collects your card and billing details directly from you. We never see or store your card number. We store only your Stripe customer ID, whether you have Pro, the date your Pro access ends, the ID of the checkout that granted it, and a record of any refund or chargeback. Stripe handles payment information under its own Privacy Policy.
• Messages you send us. If you use the contact form, we collect your email address, the message, and the page you came from. We use them only to reply, and delete them after 24 months.
• Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our servers log technical information such as your IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. We use one strictly-necessary cookie to keep you signed in. We measure aggregate site usage (pages viewed, referrer, browser type, and approximate country) with a self-hosted, cookieless analytics tool (Umami) that runs on our own server: it builds no personal profiles, does not follow you across other sites, and shares nothing with third parties. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

How we use information

• To provide the Site and its features, authenticate you, and save your progress;
• To secure the Site and prevent abuse (for example, rate-limiting and logging);
• To maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the Site;
• To respond to you when you contact us; and
• To comply with legal obligations.

Cookies

We use a single strictly-necessary cookie to maintain your login session. We do not use tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies, so we do not display a cookie-consent banner. You can delete cookies in your browser settings, but doing so will sign you out.

How we share information

We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose information only: (a) to service providers who host and operate the Site on our behalf (for example, our hosting provider, and Stripe for payments) under obligations to protect it; (b) to comply with law, legal process, or lawful requests; (c) to protect the rights, safety, and security of the Site, our users, or the public; and (d) in connection with a business transfer (e.g., merger or sale), subject to this Policy.

Data retention

We keep account information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Site, then delete or de-identify it within a reasonable period, unless a longer period is required by law. You may request deletion of your account at any time (see “Your rights”).

You can delete your account at any time with the Delete my account button on your account page, or by emailing info@eyeknowod.com. Deleting it removes your account, score history, saved exams in progress and saved items. Reports you sent about questions stay without your name or email, refund and chargeback records stay without anything linking them to you, and Stripe keeps its own payment records.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards, including HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, and to appeal a decision. This includes residents of California (under the CCPA/CPRA), Colorado (under the Colorado Privacy Act), and other states with comparable laws.

• We do not sell or share your personal information and do not use it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of in that respect.
• To exercise any right, email us at info@eyeknowod.com. We will verify your request (typically by confirming control of the account email) and respond within the time required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Children

The Site is intended for optometry students and professionals and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Users outside the United States

The Site is operated in and hosted from the United States. If you access it from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be processed in the U.S., which may have data-protection laws different from those in your location. The Site is intended for a U.S. audience and is not directed at individuals in the European Union or other regions with distinct data-protection regimes.

Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes will be made reasonably conspicuous.
