Hioxifilcon D, a non-ionic copolymer of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and glycerol methacrylate (GMA), cross-linked with ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA).
Optics
Refractive index is 1.414 hydrated.
Handling tint
Blue visibility handling tint, phthalocyanato (2) - (copper).
Fitting
Place a lens on each eye and allow a 15 minute period of adjustment and equilibration before judging the fit.
Replacement

Packaging
Supplied sterile in a sealed blister pack of buffered normal saline, labeled with base curve, power, diameter, manufacturing lot number and expiry date.
Availability
Manufactured and marketed by ACUCON of Sarasota, Florida, with a return of Extreme H2O upcoming; confirm supply with your distributor before prescribing.
One geometry only, a 14.2 diameter on a median 8.6 base curve.
Optical design
Cylinder is supplied at two fixed powers, 0.65 D and 1.25 D, with sphere from -0.25 to -6.00 and +0.25 to +4.00.
Optics
Low Cylinder axes are limited to a fixed set of 15, 75, 90, 105, 165 and 180 degrees.
Stabilization
Orientation marks sit at 6 o'clock and 20 degrees off 6 o'clock on either side, for orienting the lens and reading rotation.
Fitting
The Low Cylinder design carries 0.65 D of cylinder and covers cylindrical corrections from 0.5 up to 1.0 D.
Note
Compensate rotation by Left Add, Right Subtract: rotation to the examiner's left is added to the refractive cylinder axis, rotation to the right is subtracted.

Thin: +6.00D to -6.00D (0.25D steps); -6.00D to -8.00D (0.50D steps)
Xtra: +6.00D to -6.00D (0.25D steps); -6.00D to -10.00D (0.50D steps)
Design Notes
Geometry
Two variants, Thin and Xtra, share a 14.2 mm diameter.
Base curve
The Thin runs a median 8.6 mm only, while the Xtra adds a steep 8.3 mm that is available in minus powers only.
Note
The Thin covers +6.00 to -6.00 by 0.25 diopters and -6.00 to -8.00 by 0.50; the Xtra extends to -10.00 by 0.50.
Fitting
Good movement, centration and comfort are achieved for the majority of patients with the 8.6 mm base curve.
Material
Hioxifilcon A, a non-ionic copolymer of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and glycerol methacrylate (GMA), cross-linked with ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA).
Optics
Refractive index is 1.515 dry and 1.404 hydrated.
Handling tint
Blue visibility handling tint, phthalocyanato (2) - (copper).
Replacement
Prescribable for frequent or planned replacement wear with cleaning, disinfection and scheduled replacement, disinfected on a chemical system.
Packaging
Supplied sterile in a sealed blister pack of buffered normal saline, labeled with base curve, power, diameter, manufacturing lot number and expiry date.

Three diameters, each on its own median base curve: 13.6 mm with 8.2 mm, 14.2 mm with 8.5 mm, and 14.8 mm with 8.7 mm.
Note
Each diameter covers +6.00 to -6.00 by 0.25 diopters and -6.00 to -10.00 by 0.50 diopters.
Fitting
Place a lens on each eye and allow a 15 minute period of adjustment and equilibration before judging the fit.
Replacement
Prescribed for daily disposable use, so no cleaning or disinfection is required and lenses are discarded upon removal.

Design Notes
Opaque cosmetic colours
Seabreeze Blue, Emerald Green, Golden Amber and Horizon Grey. Sold within the Extreme H2O range and listed with the FDA by Acucon, but cleared by Polydev Ltd of Ireland (K161931), so its specifications do not appear in Extreme H2O documentation. Acucon states it is preparing to relaunch the Extreme H2O family, so new-stock availability may be intermittent during the transition; confirm supply with your distributor before prescribing.
