Initial Fitting Guide
1. Maximize the plus sphere power during the distance refraction.
2. Vertex-correct powers over +/-4.00D; use the mean spherical equivalent for astigmatism up to 1.00D.
3. Determine the dominant eye.
4. Select the initial add: LOW (+1.00) or HIGH (+2.00).
Power refinements are usually unnecessary; offer extra distance plus first, it is often well accepted. Menicon's Multifocal Calculator suggests a lens from the spectacle Rx.
